Parker is located on the east bank of the pristine Colorado River in Arizona, 163 miles west of Phoenix and 250 miles east of LA. The town site of Parker was laid out for the purpose of providing a railroad stopover, watering and shipping station. In 1937, a highway bridge was completed across the Colorado River connecting Arizona to California. |
In May, 1982, by initiative petition, voters formed La Paz County from the northern portion of the former Yuma County. On January 1, 1983, Parker became the county seat for La Paz County.
Bouse is located in the midst of the unspoiled Sonoran Desert of west-central Arizona. It peacefully sits in the shadows of the Plomosa Mountains, 27 miles southeast of Parker & the Colorado River, and 23 miles northeast of Quartzsite.
Salome lies in McMullen Valley on Arizona Hwy 60, 50 miles east of Parker between Wickenburg and Quartzsite. The valley is rich in agriculture and thousands of acres of natural desert and wilderness are protected from development - giving residents and visitors the opportunity to off-road, rockhound, hike, explore, and wander through the Outback.
Ehrenberg, a desert community alongside the Arizona side of the Colorado River, began in 1864 at the Bradshaw Ferry Landing and was originally named "Mineral City". It was later renamed "Ehrenberg" in honor of surveyor and mining engineer, Herman Ehrenberg and was a major port when the Colorado River served as a main source of transportation to the interior of the Arizona territory. Ehrenberg is located on Interstate 10, across the Colorado River from Blythe, California. Phoenix is 142 miles east.
